Runway is the professional’s AI video platform. Its flagship model tops video-generation benchmarks, but its real edge is workflow: motion brush, director mode, a built-in non-linear editor, and Aleph, which edits generated footage through text prompts instead of regenerating from scratch. One subscription also bundles several models — its own plus Veo, Kling, and more — and it is used in real studio pipelines.

The tradeoffs are cost and reliability. Its flagship model consumes credits quickly, so entry plans deliver only a short amount of top-quality video per month, credits don’t roll over, and failed generations can still burn them. Queues can be long and support is thin. For end-to-end production it leads; for pure cost-per-second, a dedicated generator like Kling wins.
